THE DEVIL’S SLEEP, ORIGINAL ONE-SHEET MOVIE POSTER, 1949 DRUG PROPAGANDA, RARE!

The Devil's Sleep (Screen Classics Inc., 1949).
One Sheet (28" X 41.5").
A fun little piece of exploitation, this campy flick has Lita Grey (AKA the former Mrs. Charlie Chaplin) returning from an eleven year hiatus for one final film appearance. W. Merle Connell, a master of all things schlock, directs this melodramatic affair about a drug ring fronted through a women's spa.
This rare poster was salvaged from the storeroom of the iconic Guild Theater in San Francisco, before it closed in 1987, and is very well preserved, in it's original condition.  The poster was stored folded, in a paper bag, and is being offered in the original, unrestored condition.  As you can see from the scans, there are a few edge tears, a small scuff in the upper left (in the T of Today’s), a small piece missing in the lower left margin, a small scrape in the bottom center figure, and three water stains along the center fold.  Poster should really be preserved by having it linen backed, and the majority of the condition issues would be greatly improved by that process, but I leave that decision to the new owner.  Overall, a very attractive example of the poster, with excellent paper quality.  An extremely rare vintage poster.  NOT a reproduction, copy, or print, but the original theater poster supplied to the venues who showed the film.
