    Title:
Antique Silver Seated Chiengsaen Buddha Amulet of 'Magic Composition'. Pala Influence. Cast Solid.
Sacred Temple Blessed Amulet. Circa: Late 1900's.
    Chiengsaen Buddha Statue Amulet Pendant
Chiengsaen - Lanna Style Art with Pala Influence (Known as "Sing One").
    Overview:
This particular silver image of a meditating Buddha is referred to as ""Early Chiengsaen"" type, or Sing One, which received a significant amount of influence from the Pala style art, which flourished in north east India between the 8th and 12th century. Lanna artist blended these influences into a individualized level of artistry, creating a distinct style of Buddha sculptures.
    XXX
The primary resemblance to Pala is distinguished here by the image seated in the 'Vajrasana' (soles pointed upward) posture, and the hand held in the 'Maravijaya' mudra, with the right hand on the right knee in the gesture of subduing Mara.
    Image Details:
A spiritual image of Buddha seated cross-legged in Vajrasana posture. The body plump 'Khanon Thom' covered by a Sanghati Robe worn diagonally over the left shoulder, and is graced by a heavily-pleated flap draped above the nipple, and marked with a v- notch. The right shoulder is left bare. The Buddha features a well rounded face, with almond-shaped eyes downcast, curved eyebrows meet above a prominent nose, rounded chin, and contoured lips with an exalted expression, appear smiling. The head is covered by small pin curls, surmounted by a hemispherical 'Ushnisha', topped by a smooth conical ornament finial.
    XXX
The entirety is supported by a single level pedestal without ornamentation. The silver surface has naturally aged to a rich patina partially covered with blackened oxidation. The figure is beauifully presented in a seated pendant casement.
    xxxx
Sculpted in the form of a seated image, the figure was primarily cast from a special process of 'smelting' metal, in accordance with the Buddhist Scripture of mixing 'magic' metals - a highly valuable composition for making supernatural amulets, with each type of metal having their own unique characteristics that provide important design elements in the overall construction. The primary ingredients here being 'Silver' (90%) and 'Tin' (10%), obtained from the smelting of sacred metals and religious artifact fragments, along with several holy minerals added in completing the purity of the metal.
In addition, prior to the actual manufacturing of these sacred Amulets - magic letters and drawings are created according to ancient holy scriptures, established by master Buddhist Monks; along with extensive ceremonial prayer, practiced by the gathering of several temple monks, by which is said to enhance the power of the amulet with invincible and psychic powers. After production of the amulet - they are blessed and consecrated through infinte virtues and supreme meditative powers.
