Image Details:
The Buddha sits in the 'Virasana' pose, meditating on eight graduated coils of the serpent king 'Muccalinda', protected by the hooded canopy of its seven-headed cobra. Both hands overlap one another in the 'Dhyana' mudra, the attainment of spiritual perfection, gesture. The seven-headed cobra canopy is finely incised with conjoined scales of the snakes body. The serpents wavering tail is intricately carved in relief at the front, forming the shape of the base.
